Reflections of the bay

California Modern Art Gallery and Mesart.com are pleased to announce REFLECTIONS OF THE BAY, the first annual juried competition and art show to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco’s Tenderloin Clubhouse. This exciting event features works by some of the Bay Area’s best artists. The exhibition opens on September 25, 2008 and closes December 2, 2008. This is a wonderful opportunity to see great local art and contribute to an organization that does so much for kids.

MesArt is a community of artists which began in San Francisco in 2002 and has experienced extensive and acclaimed growth ever since. MesArt's website allows artists to showcase, advertise, promote and sell their artwork over the Internet. It is a place at the crossroads of a gallery, a store, a marketplace, a community and a global network. MesArt is created and designed by artists for artists and is the home of quality fine art, design and handmade original crafts.

 

The esteemed panel of jurors selected over 150 works of art for this event including paintings, sculptures, photography and prints. The jurors were Alan Bamberger, art consultant and author, publisher of ArtBusiness.com , DeWitt Cheng, artist, curator and co-editor of SF Art Magazine and Inga Fischer, owner/operator California Modern Art Gallery.

Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco’s Tenderloin Clubhouse offers a safe place where young people can learn and grow. The Club offers programs in five core areas, including the arts; character and leadership development; education and career development; health and life skills; and sport, fitness and recreation. For just a $10 annual membership fee, the Clubs offer high quality staff, programs, and facilities in an environment that promotes respect, responsibility and fun.

 

The Tenderloin Clubhouse
is outstanding in Arts programming.
The Clubhouse offers a variety of daily programs in the art room, which is a quiet and colorful oasis that fosters creativity. Currently, we offer clay sculpture, painting, digital photography, crafts, drawing, as well as architecture and design. Our members are constantly competing in a variety of national and regional art competitions, often placing in the top tiers.

A portion of the proceeds from this exhibition will be donated to Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco’s Tenderloin Clubhouse. Also, artwork produced by children in a competition at the Tenderloin Clubhouse will be on exhibit during the opening of this exhibition at California Modern Art Gallery.

 

California Modern Art Gallery and MesArt will promote a Gala Opening, September 25, 2008, highlighting some of the Bay Area's best contemporary artists as well as providing a fun community event to support a great cause.
